Thomas McGahan, CFA
Principal, Chief Investment Officer
As CIO, Tom leads the firm’s investment research efforts, portfolio construction/trading activities, and risk management functions, ensuring each client account is aligned with the investment principles of Eamon Capital Management.
Prior to founding Eamon Capital Management, Tom spent over 20 years advising and managing the investments of large institutional capital pools for corporate retirement benefit plans, public pension plans, endowments, and foundations. His direct investment management experience includes MetLife’s $21 billion and BNY Mellon’s $11 billion retirement benefit plans where he was responsible for financial market and asset class research, asset allocation decisions, and investment selection.
Further, he has advised and indirectly managed the investment platform offerings for several well-known registered investment platforms such as R.W. Baird, SEI Investments, Affiliated Managers Group, and Principal Financial Group. Prior to this, he was a sell-side equity research analyst covering healthcare and business service stocks at Piper Jaffray (now Piper Sandler) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing golf and attending church at Revival Today Church. Tom holds an undergraduate degree in finance and an MBA with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a CFA charterholder, a highly distinguished and globally recognized credential held by only 170,000 investment professionals worldwide. The right to use the CFA charter is earned through the completion of a rigorous study program testing fundamental investment tools, valuing of assets, portfolio management, and wealth management.
